About the workshop
This is a CPCAB endorsed 15-hour workshop run over three days. It is aimed at upskilling students and counsellors with the knowledge and expertise to work confidently with children, young people and families. Our workshop familiarises students with the BACP’s Competences for working with Young People. The course asks participants to reflect upon their own experiences and motivations for working in this specialism. We will consider the counsellor’s role and ethical responsibilities when working with this client group. There will be a focus on working within the school setting. Through a range of multisensory activities participants will have the opportunity to explore some alternatives to talking therapies. Many practical strategies and interventions from differing modalities will be shared to create a toolbox for use in sessions with young children and adolescents.
